Leticia "Lettie" Bostic (Mary Alice) enrolled at Hillman College, dropped out of Hillman a few credits short of her degree, moved to Paris, met Pablo Picasso, spied for the Allies during World War II, rejected marriage proposal from South African freedom fighter Marcus Mpepo, replaced Stevie Rallen as dorm director of Gilbert Hall. While director she presumably did her job well, often helping students with personal issies. When student Kim Reese engages in unprotected sex that led to a pregnancy scare, Lettie shouts in anger but immediately apologizes. After season 2 ends, Lettie dissapears completely with no explanation, but the dissolution of her job could act as an answer to this.
Lettie is often a soft spoken person of a sweet nature who rarely ever shows signs of overt anger.
"You... you... teenager!"
- Mary Alice, who portrays Lettie, appeared in three episodes of the showy Cosby starring Phylicia Rashad and Bill Cosby. This links her character Lettie to two characters of Rashad, and by extension Cosby.
- After vacating the position of dorm director, the dorm becomes co-ed and is run by Coach Walter Oakes.
- In her final appearance, Lettie sings with Mr. Gaines at the piano about having the blues.
